The national vehicle networking industry standard system was established in 2020

On September 25th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice soliciting opinions on the "Guidelines for the Construction of the National Connected Vehicle Industry Standard System". The "Guidelines for the Construction of the National Vehicle Networking Industry Standard System" points out that in response to the development needs of the vehicle networking industry during the 13th Five Year Plan period, efforts should be made to accelerate the formulation of common basic standards, accelerate the development of standards related to automatic safety and assisted driving, key technology standards for in vehicle electronic products, key technology standards for wireless communication, advanced driving assistance system standards, and key technology standards for 5G eV2X for the application of the vehicle networking industry, in order to meet the needs of industry development. By 2020, the national vehicle networking industry standard system will be basically established.


The industry believes that the sustained growth of the automotive industry has brought huge demand for the development of the connected car market. With the increasing maturity of traditional car manufacturing technology, the automotive industry is facing the need for further upgrading and transformation. The level of informatization in research and development design, the level of automation in vehicle production, the degree of transformation to new energy, and the development of the Internet of Vehicles have become the breakthrough directions for the current automotive industry.


The Internet of Vehicles started in Europe and the United States. The early Internet of Vehicles products are mainly used for security services, such as OnStar of GM, SYNC of Ford, etc. With the development of the Internet and the younger car buyers, users' demand for the Internet of Vehicles has not only been limited to security functions, but also increased the demand for information and entertainment functions. Automobiles will gradually move from functionality to intelligence, while giving rise to new demands for automotive electronic technology.

However, while developing rapidly, the country is also regulating the Internet of Vehicles to ensure healthy and orderly development, "said Yan Jinghui, an expert in the automotive market. Automotive expert Zhang Zhiyong also believes that whether it is new energy vehicles or traditional fuel vehicles, the Internet of Vehicles is developing rapidly and has not changed due to differences in power. The prospects of the connected car market are very promising, and it has become a standard feature of automotive products. The connected car market will have greater room for improvement in the future.


Industry predictions suggest that intelligent networking is expected to expand the scale of China's automotive industry by another 1 trillion yuan, while also driving rapid development in multiple fields such as 5G, connected vehicles, big data, and artificial intelligence. And related fields such as automobile manufacturing, information technology, and transportation services will all usher in new development opportunities. According to 3GPP's V2X timeline, the period from the second half of 2017 to 2018 is the time when the Internet of Vehicles in China truly enters the growth stage and will officially begin the commercialization process.


The Internet of Vehicles is a huge interactive network composed of information such as vehicle location, speed, and route. Through devices such as GPS, RFID, sensors, cameras, and image processing, vehicles can collect their own environmental and status information; Through Internet technology, all vehicles can transmit their various information to the central processing unit. Through computer technology, this vast amount of information can be analyzed and processed to calculate priority routes, report road conditions in a timely manner, and schedule traffic signal cycles.
